What Matters?

God? Family? Economic security? Art? Experience? Knowledge? The Texas Longhorns?

Each of us has our own response to the question. Through interviews with a diverse cross-section of people, What Matters is an exploration of those myriad answers. Our intent is to ask as many people as we can to sit down in front of our camera and tell us what their answers are, and to post them, lightly edited, to the What Matters website. Beyond that, we also want to offer people the opportunity to post their answers directly to the website, either as homemade video or brief essay.

The idea here is to examine many perspectives to see if they merge into a broad vision of our human viewpoint. Do we share some commonalities or to we diverge as sharply as it sometimes seems? Without taking a single perspective, our goal is simply to ask the question and to encourage people to ask the question of themselves.

When, eventually, some commonalities coalesce, we will create a feature-length documentary revealing what we’ve discovered, whether that be a unified worldview or a hopelessly divided populace. Until then, we will keep asking the question, and we hope that you will let us know what YOU think.
